The author hails from a well known family in Mannar whose forte was good food and lavish entertainment. The author inherited many of those traditions through her mother who was not only an extremely talented cook herself but also followed the generosity and largesse of her forbears. Due to the ever present danger that the grandchildren and future generation who live abroad may gradually become estranged from our traditional foods and wiil not have the ability to recreat the meals they enjoyed at home during their childhood,the author has produced this collection of recipes enjoyed by family and friends over the past 60 years in an easily comprehensible from to which they can have ready access. The author wishes everyone who makes any of these recipes,firstly, the culinary joy of preparing the food and secondly, the gastronomic experience of the dishes shared with family and friends.
